I swam through Your oceans and drowned in Your seas I saw my heart reflected in heaven and poured onto the sands below I felt You in my center calling out to me no hand could hold back the tides for a love so strongly held beyond the ocean, beyond the shores I swam through the waves through waters behind measure I fought the current until it pulled me under no love lost that was not gained no future in a heart that was not submerged great pressure like iron gripped me so the waters sought my heart to burst but through it all You caused me to look up in wonder to the surface of water, dazzling light I hear the bells, heard the laughter shattered glass upon the floor strings upon the harp that played my soul o light! o beauty! o dazzling wonder beyond wonders! to feel it all under such strain to laugh in spite of the pain, ever increasing sweetness beyond torment I see You in the faces of my gods I see You in every man I ever fell in love with o hearts of hearts! o golden laughter in my dreams! to jump off the cliff into the wine-dark sea... for the love of the gods I became one with the waves for the love of the gods I cherished life, love, and pain. - ©2003 Kyrene Ariadne |
